• Program In this Tutorial, Input Shaping ¢ç control, a kind of feedforward control, is introduced from basis to application, which can suppress residual vibrations via manipulating reference inputs appropriately. We present a simple technique of input shaping, and discuss advantages and disadvantages of this technique for engineers of industry, and researchers/students of research institutes and universities. Specifically, we discuss

1. Transient responses of an under-damped 2nd order system
2. Principle of input shaping control
3. Robustness of input shaping control
4. Multi-mode input shaping control
5. Demonstration by simulations and experiments

We also introduce patent infringement suits including 800 million dollar¡¯s suit related to input shaping control logic.

• Program The principal goal of this tutorial is to provide an introduction to the basic principle and applications of Linear Kalman filter, Unscented Kalman filter and Particle filters to integration of GPS (Global Positioning System) with Inertial Navigation Systems. Fundamental concept on filtering technique with detailed mathematical development will be introduced, so that one can build up solid background on the basics of Kalman filter as well as general filtering theory. Considering the importance of Kalman filtering in the practicing areas of GPS/INS integration, practical applications of the Kalman filter in real fields are also presented following the basic theory. The workshop will deliver highly useful knowledge and experience for graduate students working on related research, scientists of government institutes, and field engineers being involved with practical projects. The one-day tutorial consists of three parts. In the morning session, introduction and mathematical developments of the linear Kalman filter theory is scheduled. During the afternoon session, more advanced filters such as the unscented filter and the particle filters will be discussed.
